Stacy Sherman, the Director of Volunteer Services at Caritas Holy Family Hospital in
Methuen, MA, has joined us here at Knit Pickings to start a drive to collect infant socks
and booties for the newborn babies in the hospital. We will be collecting donations
here at the shop on an ongoing basis, starting immediately. You are free to use any of
your favorite baby booties and socks pattern, as long as they follow these two important
guildlines:
- No bells, buttons, ties, bows, flowers, or other similar decorations that can be a
potential chocking hazard to the infants
- Yarn used to make the booties must be machine washable

Knit Pickings is hosting a World Wide Knit in Public Event (WWKIP)!!!!
What is WWKIP day you ask? WWKIP day is the brain
child of Danielle Landes. She thought of a way for
Knitters to enjoy each other’s company in a public forum.
Knitting is considered a solitary hobby so this day was
designed to get Knitters out in the world to meet their
neighbors and others who enjoy knitting as much as we
all do.
WWKIP was started in 2005 with just 25 groups
world wide in 2007 there were almost 200 groups.
We thought this would be a great way for all our knitting and spinning friends to get
some fresh air and enjoy a day just knitting and spinning. This is a great way for
people to know that knitting isn’t just for Grannies anymore!!! (We are very grateful
for our grannies who taught most of us how to knit!!!)
Our event will take place on Saturday June 14th from 10-3 pm @ the Plaistow
Common located in the center of the Town of Plaistow, The common is just made
for this type of event with beautiful park benches and a great Gazebo to enjoy shade.
So, bring your lawn chair and your knitting, spinning or crocheting for the day. Don’t
forget the sunscreen and a water bottle since this is summer .
